What’s Your Irrational Fear?

I’m about to share with all of you something that is deeply personal…something I just recently shared with my boyfriend after over a year of being together.

And no, it’s not as ominous as it sounds. I’m actually sharing this information with you because I’m just like many other people. I’m not perfect. I have quirks. And fears.

Take a look at the photo below? Do you know what it is? If not, I will tell you. It’s a heating pad. It’s an item I use often on my lower back and sometimes my knees.

But there’s one place I won’t use it.

My neck.

See, as crazy as this sounds, and believe me, I know it’s crazy and completely irrational…but I fear that if I use it on my neck, I will cook my brain.

Go ahead. Laugh! I know you want to. This is an irrational fear of mine that I’ve had for awhile. And I’m not the only one who was a weird fear that will make you scratch your head in confusion.

For example, without mentioning names, I have a friend who has a fear of one day slicing her eye open with a razor while shaving her legs. I remember the day she told me of her fear. I laughed because to me it sounds funny, but to her, it’s a fear she has.

When I told my boyfriend about mine he laughed. Then he looked at me and said, “Wait! You’re serious.”

And I am. My fear isn’t completely without warrant, though, since heating pads can be dangerous and life threatening if not used properly. They can cause severe burns if not careful. In fact, I put one on my stomach the other night because of the pain from being sick and after only a few moments I had red welts popping up. Needless to say, I turned it off and didn’t use it again that night.

So, now that I’ve shared my weird fear with you, share yours with me. I’d love to hear them.
